How it Works
Motorization of your curtains and blinds mean using completely different components for the tracks and tubes.
The most important part of a motorized curtain is, well, the motor. It’s the part of the system that receives electrical power, and moves the entire assembly.
The rest of your curtain or blind assembly is made of mechanized components that takes the rotational movement of the motor to drive your curtains, blinds, or shades.
Certain systems, such as for vertical blinds, has two separate motors (built into a single device) – each for a different action (drawing blinds vs. rotating vanes).
Motorized, or Smart?
Motorization means adding curtain motors or blind motors – linked to a remote control – so that pressing a button on the remote control opens or closes your curtains for you.
Smart curtains and blinds take it up a notch. Besides motorization, smart curtains are also integrated into your smart home, opening up more options for controls. Most importantly, it allows for automations, where your curtains and blinds work automatically without even requiring a remote control button press.

Never pull your curtains again. Controlling your curtains and blinds could be a simple button press or Siri voice command. Or, just run the smart home app of your choice and open your curtains to exactly the position you want.

Group different curtains and blinds together, and control them together with scenes. A good night scene, for example, can close your whole home’s curtains and blinds with a single command.

If you find yourself handling your curtains twice a day, automations might make perfect sense. Have your blinds open automatically at 8 a.m., and have your curtains close by themselves at 7 p.m.

There are ways to motorise your curtains without adding power points, but for best results, we always recommend to add power points to where you expect to install curtain motors.

Are curtain motors noisy?
